I purchased the Hi-Lift for self-rescue when off-roading in my Jeep JKU. I initially had the 42" version but with the addition of the L100 Lift Mate and its long straps and hook to attached directly to the tire, I found the 42" version would not lift the tire much above the ground so we exchanged the 42 for the 48" version. Read on for our impressions. -- WRAPPED DELIVERY: The Hi-Lift came bagged in a big silver wrap and was not boxed. That didn't seem like much protection but the lift came complete with no missing or broken parts and included instructions. -- EASY TO LIFT ONE CORNER OF JEEP: It operated correctly and was exactly as described. It was very easy to lift one corner of the Jeep JKU. -- CAREFULLY ID LIFT POINTS: FYI if you drive a Jeep Wrangler.........After inspecting my Jeep Wrangler JKU, I did discover there are NO reachable lift points with the 4.5" beak of the Hi-LIft. The stock front bumper is only vinyl and will not hold weight and will be damaged. There are no reachable lift points on the sides except for the stock side step which are not strong enough to hold without bending or breaking. Lift points on the rear stock bumper could only be reached under the tow hook. All other points on the stock Jeep will be damaged if attempting to lift there. The Hi-Lift jack lift surface is only 4.5" long, so it requires steel after-market bumpers. -- NEEDS LIFT MATE WITH STOCK JEEP: In order to use the HI-Lift with a stock Jeep, the accessory LM-100 Lift-Mate is required, which provides hooks to attach to the wheel to lift the wheel directly. We were concerned that the portion of the jack head that is against the tire might pop the bead of the tire and we saw the tire deflect quite a bit but it did not. Still before using we would probably over-inflate the tire to reduce the risk of popping the bead. -- HEAVY: Its very heavy at about 30lbs so if mounted on the rear gate, reinforced hinges should be used. -- FITS ON FLOOR OF JEEP: Even at 48" long it will fit in the back of the Jeep across the floor which is how I carry it. -- HAS HANDLE GRIPPER: It comes with an attached spring to hold the lift tube in place when storing. -- SMALL BASE: The base is too small an surface area to even allow the jack to stand up confidently on its own. The small base will sink into the ground when lifting so an extra base is needed to provide a good solid surface to push against. A road base is essential to use this jack to raise a vehicle safely. Hi-Lift has an accessory, a Road Base, that is about 12" square but I made one from wood scraps I have around the shop and it works great..It’s a hi lift jack. They are heavy and stout. You need to know how to use it and lube it properly. Practice when you don’t need it so you’re prepared when you do!Well built and sturdy but heavier than I expected.. Wish it came with a rubber pad for the jaw so that it won't mar the vehicle when used. We'll fix that..Mounted this on my rig, It makes me look cool 10/10 would recommend! Haven’t used it once in two years. Worth it! Complete your build!Seemed a little clunky at first but this really did the job. Be sure to read the directions and oil it up before use. Made pulling post holes out so easy my wife pulled one up just to try it. Very happy with this purchase. Saved me a ton of time, digging, and spared the damage to my yard of using a truck+chain.I have one for 4 years which I have it mount on my Off-road UTV . I pretty much use it for everything’s jack up my UTV whenever I need to replace the tire . I also use it for to pull the t post out the ground for fences repair etc . I decide to buy another one for my Bronco .It is great jack not only for wrangler. It is work great for heavy duty truck. I have RAM2500 with Cummins. So, the front can be lifted by using tow hooks. And it is hold very steady. And back, tow hitch receiver is perfect place to lift. No more crawling under the truck. The only one really small disadvantage jack is big. But little bit more creativity and place was found. We needed to pull many t-post fence posts out of clay soil. I bought this and a t-post puller attachment from another seller and I was able to remove the stubborn posts that we could not remove with a standard t-post puller. We also have used this to pull stumps out of the same tough clay soil. We have removed several stumps on our property by attaching a chain to the hi-lift jack. There are videos on line to show you how to do this. It worked beautifully and has saved us hours of time and effort.I pulled pipes out that were hammered into water (10 ft. In mud) to hold my dock.It was better than expected.Strong. Well made. Works great. Well painted . Some reviews state jack goes down to bottom when latch is released to lower , this true but only if there is no weight on the jack when lowering. This actually makes sense rather than having to click many times to bring jack to bottom after use. Definitely recommend.Shipping was crazy fast! Was expected to be a couple weeks so I was pretty shocked when I got a call from the depot that same week saying it was ready for pick up. As far as the product is concerned, it’s a high-lift Jack so it is what it is and came well packaged with no damage so no complaints at all.I used this jack to lift an empty 40 foot shipping container one corner at a time. It took a great deal of downward force on the Jack handle but it did the job. It appears very well-made and this task while near its maximum capability didn’t seem to over stress it at all.Bought this for emergency purposes. I hope never to use it! Size fits perfectly on my rear roll bar of my Jeep Wrangler. Suspended with velcro straps. This is a bit pricey but best to be safe than sorry...I love how easy it is to use and how it has multiple applications. use it as a jack or a cumalong. My only issue is when you go to drop the vehicle back down, it slams down. it doesnt step down like its supposed to.
