Description

Enjoy perfect stability whether you're working seated or standing. This Lyptus hardwood H-frame easel features a laminated quad base, with a slide and lock height adjustment system. Assembly required. Lyptus premium hardwood is grown on well-managed plantations in South America, making it the eco-friendly choice for the global consumer. Lyptus wood is from hybrid eucalyptus trees, which mature in 14-16 years (other hardwoods take up to 60 years). Lyptus trees sprout from the stump of previously harvested trees, so the forest is always renewing itself! The wood is harder than oak, enabling easels made of Lyptus to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use.

First off, contrary to some reviews it was very easy to assemble in minutes. Quite sturdy and adjustable to a wide range of height combinations. Adjustable leveling feet are a nice plus. Knobs for adjusting upper and lower easel shelf are easy to work. BUT you must make them hand-tight as the pressure plate depends on that to hold them in place. The rubber bumpers on easel shelves are nice, BUT you must make them tight or canvas can slip out from under them at the top. There were two disappointments. One, the packaging was very poor and needs to have some foam inserts at top and bottom. I was surprised that the unit was not damaged given the poor condition of the box ends. Second, the mast is NOT made of solid wood. Instead it has a thin front face and a plywood back face. This cheapens the look of what is otherwise a nice product. While mechanically sound, I would have preferred a solid mast. This easel is made very well, the instructions for assembly were easy to follow, it was assembled in no time, it says lightweight which I suppose it is but don’t let that fool you, this os not a cheap ‘get you by’ easel. It is sturdy, solid and well worth the purchase. I’m not a new artist and have had a few easels in my day, this one is definitely my favorite of all, of them. It’s easy to move and adjust, I have a large Artist lamp clamped to it and it’s still solid as a rock! Great purchase with fast deliveryThis easel is perfect. It is small enough that it doesn't take up a lot of space, but it is still sturdy enough to hold large canvasses. It is also really nice looking, easy to assemble and easy to adjust. This is a well made, heavy easel for large canvas work. Smaller & thinner canvases do not work. The thin center support allows smaller/thinner canvases to rock back and forth as you work, especially if you like to stand while you paint. Any canvas narrower than 20" wide will not reach the uprights on the sides. I had to jury rig wood & clamps and turn the shelf upside down to work on some small piecesI needed a new sturdy easel that would last and easily fold. After much research, I knew that it was time to ditch the aluminum tripod I have been using and go with a nice h-frame. I didn’t want to settle with pine or other weak woods that I would inevitably destroy through my normal use, but the prices for most of the sturdy hardwood h-frames recommended to me were all a bit out of my reach. I took a risk on this Richeson model and the risk was more than worth it.Firstly, this is my first experience with “Lyptus” wood, but upon close inspection I can verify that it is indeed harder than oak as claimed. The environmental friendliness of using such a fast growing wood is just a nice added bonus.Secondly, this is a very well built and sturdy easel that is capable of folding up almost flat for storage. Finally, after a very simple and painless assembly, this easel is simply beautiful. I’m almost going to regret spilling paint all over it.I am extremely happy with this easel and am a bit shocked at just how little the cost was for such a high quality product! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new easel.Recommended by an artist friend. Opened the box and assembled the easel under 15 minutes. Cannot wait to use it :-)I just put together my new easel in about 5 minutes! I am soooo in LOVE with it! The quality of the wood and hardware is remarkable! I love that I can fold it flat in about 5 seconds without taking it apart! It would easily fit under a bed or in a closet. It looks good, feels good, and even smells good! It looks like redwood and has a linseed oil rub on it. In comes with little screw in flat feet, but I called the company(USA number with and American who answers the phone!) and found out they sell locking wheel feet for $36 or you can go to the hardware store and buy some because it's a standard size. I also found out this easel retails for $395 from the company so it is a screaming deal at $177!!! The center support moves up very high or comes down to store. The top and bottom trays move all the way up or down so you can hold the very tiniest the the most massive canvas, at any level you are most comfortable at...sitting or standing! It has a small foot print so it fits nicely anywhere in a room without overwhelming it. I bought a French easel first, but it takes turning 10 different knobs to set it up and again to take it down, and it felt like tooth picks holding up a canvas compared to this! This absolutely the BEST easel available...you won't regret it!It was a gift for my daughter. Her family loved it. I think the whole family will use it, which is not a problem because it is durable. I can't wait to buy myself one.
