In the 1960s Jack Jones entered the field as the (it transpired) last of the jazz-intelligent pop singers: the heir to Mssrs Sinatra, Torme, Bennet, et al. This 1998 recording finds him all grown up, wearing big boy pants etc. No more the smoot silken voice of romantic youth, rather a voice of experience and of deep feelings. The (sincere) hook is an homage to Tony Bennet, the outcome is (mostly) well known standards perpetrated by an adult capable of handling the nuances within.
